Cranbrook Community Garden
The Cranbrook Community Garden Project is a horticultural project that will provide an area for residents to develop growing spaces for vegetables, flowers and plants and it will provide opportunities to work collaboratively in the development of the garden. One of the garden’s main objectives, is to create a social garden that can grow food in a sustainable way whilst respecting and enhancing local wildlife and to increase the access to locally produced food for all in the local neighbourhoods.
GARDENING SESSIONS & MEETUPS
Every Sunday from 8.30am
This project will form a safe and secure space where participants can feel empowered through the horticultural process, gardening activities and being outside. Through these activities and togetherness, participants will have the opportunities to develop their gardening skills and knowledge and create long-lasting friendships and collaborations.
This horticultural project will use the No Dig growing process, which is a gardening process that avoids digging the soil, which removes any disruption to soil life and so the important micro-organisms, fungi, and worms remain in the soil and help to feed plant roots. This process provides a rich soil to grow in, and it’s an excellent way to clear a weed-infested growing area.
The long-term aspiration of this project is to create and develop a community gardening site that is owned and utilised by the community, by volunteers and for local groups in Cranbrook and the surrounding areas.
The Cranbrook Community Garden is managed by YouGrow CIC and is in partnership with Cranbrook Town Council and has been funded by The National Lottery Community Fund.
The Cranbrook Community Garden is open to everyone in the local community and can be accessed at anytime. To take part you do not need any gardening experience and you don’t have to commit to any regular time, thirty minutes of weeding and watering are just a vital as a couple of hours.
In addition, are currently two growing beds specifically for people who are wheelchairs users or have mobility problems and we are looking to create some more very soon.
If you would like to volunteer or would like to know more about the garden, then please fill out the form below and we will get back to you.
