Welcome to Cranbrook Community Garden

Cranbrook Community Garden

The Cranbrook Community Garden Project is a horticultural initiative designed to provide residents with a welcoming space to grow vegetables, flowers, and plants. More than just a garden, it is a place where people can work collaboratively, share knowledge, and build connections. One of the project’s main objectives is to create a social garden that produces food sustainably while respecting and enhancing local wildlife. By increasing access to locally grown produce, the garden supports healthier lifestyles and strengthens neighbourhood ties.

GARDENING SESSIONS & MEETUPS
Every Sunday from 9.30am – 1:00pm

At its core, the project is about empowerment. The garden offers a safe and secure environment where participants can feel confident through hands-on horticultural activities, outdoor learning, and shared experiences. Together, residents have the opportunity to develop gardening skills, deepen their understanding of sustainable practices, and form lasting friendships and collaborations.

A key feature of the Cranbrook Community Garden is its use of the No Dig growing method. This approach avoids disturbing the soil, allowing vital micro-organisms, fungi, and worms to thrive and naturally feed plant roots. The result is rich, fertile soil that supports healthy growth and provides an effective way to transform weed-infested areas into productive plots. By adopting this method, the garden not only nurtures plants but also protects the delicate ecosystems beneath our feet.

Looking ahead, the long-term aspiration of the project is to establish a community gardening site that is truly owned and utilised by local people, volunteers, and groups across Cranbrook and the surrounding areas. Managed by YouGrow CIC, in partnership with Cranbrook Town Council and funded by The National Lottery Community Fund and The Devon Community Foundation, the garden is a testament to what can be achieved when communities come together with a shared vision.

The Cranbrook Community Garden is open to everyone in the local community and can be accessed at any time. Whether you are an experienced gardener or simply curious to get involved, this is a space to grow food, grow friendships, and grow together.
